Iranโ€™s permanent mission to the UN has urged member states to reject a resolution drafted by the US and its Gulf allies pressing Iran to ensure safe passage for shipping through Hormuz, calling it โ€œflawedโ€ and โ€œpolitically motivatedโ€.

โ€œThe only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage,โ€ said Iranโ€™s UN mission in a post on X.

It went on to accuse the US of using the resolution to โ€œadvance its political agenda and legitimise unlawful actions โ€“ not to resolve the crisisโ€.
